Our Community

We believe that fostering community development and partnerships is integral to the wellbeing of our students and their families. We are committed to creating opportunities that promote active participation and engagement in a safe supportive environment. These include:

  1. The School Board
The School Board is an advisory body that meets with the Principal and Parish Priest (when available) to advise on the development of the school and the education and welfare of the students..
  2. The Good Shepherd Kitchen
The Good Shepherd Kitchen provides meals to families who are experiencing difficulties, such as grief, illness, a new birth, financial needs or new arrival families. The meals are provided by families in the school who offer to participate in the program. Meals are provided via a roster system.
  3. The Parent and Friend’s Association (PFA)
The Parents and Friends Association is an active fundraising orientated group however, they also organize many events that play an important part in community building within our school. Special days and Afternoon Teas such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are the most common and are extremely successful in bringing the school community together in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
  4. Communication
All staff openly communicates to families through notes sent home as well as phone calls emails and informal meetings before or after school. The staff makes genuine efforts to find interpreters if needed and can cater for families that are shift workers and may need to meet during school hours.
